Florinas
Church of Saint Francis of Assisi
The Church of Saint Francis of Assisi was built in Florinas at the beginning of the 17th century and is located on the outskirts of the town, along the road via Regina Elena. The building, despite the simplicity of its shape, is adorned on the portal with architrave and triangular gable above a frieze, set over two twisted columns. On the Romanesque façade there is a rose window located above the frame that reminds us of Medieval layouts, dividing the surface into two parts: a lower one dominated by the portal, and an upper one outlined by a double pitched roof, with a bell tower inserted on the left. In 1701, a wooden altar was placed inside the church, unfortunately it degraded due to neglect; without funding even its restoration was impossible. In 1967, a new altar was built in marble and, to make the church more welcoming, the floor was also renovated, along with the furnishings and the sacristy.
