Domus de janas Su Prammittu Monte Murone
The Domus de Prammittu (tn*domus de janas are Neolithic tombs carved into rock called “houses of the fairies” in Sardinian) is found in the locality of Sa Tanca Noa, in the middle of the valley, in the Town of Putifigari. The area is enchanting with a dramatically varying landscape. The river Rio Badde Mela is to the north, Mustas Nieddas to the north-east and the river Rio Sa Badde Manna to the south. The river Rio Campu Oes is located at the southernmost point. The area is rich in springs, peaks, scarps and crags. These natural landforms create a spectacular natural dimension, which has been considered the boundary with the supernatural world ever since the Neolithic Age. The domus has a quite complex plan. It has a small antechamber (at the moment it is full of water that infiltrates from cracks in the ceiling), a big main chamber from where other secondary chambers open up, all arranged around the main one like a fan. The tomb is accessed via a quadrangular door carved in a tuff rock formation, that leads to the antechamber. The antechamber then leads to the main chamber. The height inside is about ninety centimetres. On the right is a semi-circular chamber, with three smaller chambers next to it, some of which are only outlines. The two on the left are very close and separated by a thin wall. Next to the external door, on the right wall, there are two carved cup marks, one over the other (tn* a cup mark consists of a concave depression, no more than a few centimetres across, pecked into a rock surface and often surrounded by concentric circles also etched into the stone). The tomb is oriented from south to south-west.
Location: from via Berlinguer, at the end of the residential area and after the reservoir, take the road on the left; follow it for 3.5 km (the last part is a dirt road), then enter the gate that marks the territory of the town on the right. Continue for a few km until reaching a farmhouse where the dirt road ends. Follow the path that goes down to the valley for 2 km; then go up the slope. The domus is under a group of olive trees, the biggest in the area. Nearby, there is a very big stone placed vertically in the ground, with another smaller one leaning on it; they have been put there to indicate the tomb 50 metres north from that point.
